We lived a very simple life growing up. My siblings and I learned to love the basics. We shared all of our toys and loved it that way. We never had the high end electronics like our friends. We also shared our clothes, so we were never wearing the cool styles. We were okay with this though. My parents also believed in keeping things simple in our home. For example, we never had air conditioning units when I was in elementary school. We always used fans to keep ourselves cool during the long, hot summer. Our city always experienced some heavy summertime weather, but the fans worked well enough for us. However, when I was in middle school, my dad got a large bonus from work and decided it was time for an HVAC update. He chose to upgrade and install central cooling in our small home. I was so overjoyed at the thought of something this new, but I never realized how much I would love the feeling of a cool home on a hot summer day. It took several weeks for the update to be complete. When the update was finally complete, you couldn’t get my siblings and me to go outside. My parents were frustrated by this at first, but then they eventually joined us. We loved the feeling of the cold air way too much to leave it. Now, as an adult, I cannot live without a strong cooling system in my house. The first thing on my priority list whenever I move apartments is an updated cooling system.
